Hampas literally means to slam. Lupa literally mean ground. So it's meaning is to 'slam the ground'. Though it is used as a way to describe really poor people that have nothing to eat. Usually used by super rich people to call a poor someone.

Ex.

If a rich daughter marries a poor guy, the parents might ask the daughter why she married a hampas lupa.
