Luis Mangalus Taruc, a peasant-born from San Luis, Pampanga, was the leader of the HUKBALAHAP (Hukbong Bayan Laban sa mga Hapon) movement. He led the movement in guerrilla warfare against the Japanese.

The Hukbalahap, also known as the Huks, were a Communist guerrilla movement in the Philippines that formed during World War II to fight against Japanese occupation. After the war, they continued to struggle against the Philippine government in a movement that eventually evolved into the Hukbalahap Rebellion.

The Hukbalahap (Hukbong Bayan Laban sa Hapon) was one of the largest and best-organized resistance groups in Luzon during the Japanese period. It was a communist-led guerrilla group that fought against Japanese forces and later also against the post-war Philippine government.
They are three problems in Roxas Administration ; 1. Failure to curb graft and corruption in Government. 2. Political scandals in the sale of war surplus property, and the abuse of the congressional privileges to accept Chinese nationals in the country. 3. Failure to stop the HUKBALAHAP movement.
December 7,1941- the Japanese bombed th pearl harbor. December 25,1941- general Douglas Macarthur declared Manila as an "open city". March 29, 1942- Luis Taruc established HUKBALAHAP. April 9,1942- the death march took place. September 2,1945- More than60,000 Americans died and 300000 Japanese lost their lives.
General MacArthur is the most notable. My father was pretty well loved by the Philippino scouts as well as many female villagers, who called him affectionately "The Great American Liberator" and Blue eyes, respectively.
Elpidio R. Quirino was a Filiipino politician of the first half of the twentieth century. His biggest success was probably achieving the presidency of the nation, but his biggest failure could debatably be the failure to effectively deal with the Hukbalahap, who ransacked local towns.
