Benito Mussolini created in 1919, the Fascist Party. He made himself dictator and held all power over Italy. His army was overextended during World War II leading to a collapse of Italy. His conflicting attitude did not have a positive impact but resulted in more chaos between countries during the war.

While his Facism was uniquely Italian, he created general principles that would be imitated by others such as Hitler. His conversion of Italy into a Facist state was also signicant in its attacks on civil and political rights. He is also significant for his invasions of Ethiopia, Albania, and for prompting the Axis invasion of Greece. He is notable for bringing Italy into the Axis alliance as well.
